Chancey's Second Chance

WARNING - Chancey's story is fraught with initial sadness. Please note this before proceeding to read.

Hello Readers. Thank-you for allowing me to share my story with you. My name is "Chancey", given to me by some young ARFling volunteers who recognize I am indeed finally being given a chance to live without fear or pain.

I am just a youngster myself, a puppy-girl of only 8 months. Isn't it amazing what sadness can happen in such a short amount of time? One moment I'm wagging my tail, getting kisses from my Mama, the next I'm all alone, unwanted, and just trying to survive each day. You see, this is what happens to cute puppies that are bred into this world and given away or sold without care. We end up alone, terrified, abused.

When I tried to make friends with a human, I was shot. I only wanted to find shelter under their porch to rest my exhausted puppy body.

When I tried to make friends with some bigger dogs on chains, I was attacked, now all of my legs are open and full of teeth marks to the bone.

When I tried to ask another human for help, the whack on my head was so hard, now my one eye is blind and white.

And yet through it all, I KNEW there were humans like YOU out there. After all, I am man's best friend right? So why can't he be mine?

I decided never to give up on you humans. Finally I found the right one, the one who knew she should stop the others from shooting me to end my suffering. The one that knew of ARF, knew their supporters would find a way to pay for my surgeries, and so she contacted my RESCUERS.

When the ARF volunteer first saw me and softly exclaimed "OH, my...." she kissed my forehead and told me not to worry. She picked me up and another ARF angel helped her take all the ticks off of my face, filled my bowls with wonderful cool water and yummy kibble.

So I graced my ARF angels with a tail wag, telling them I was relieved to know I was right....humans CAN be wonderful.

A loving ARF adopter has offered to take me into her family’s home and love me while I heal. One day soon I will be looking for my FOREVER family, so please watch for my updates on the ARF adoptions page!
